Project based learning

Violence {Women's Abuse}  {group name}- 2RL

In year nine we started on a new kete which was called Project based learning.
This gives us the opportunity to, think of some ideas or topics in our small groups that we can help prevent or stop it from happening.

These are some websites that helped us learn more about the violence that has been happening and how it's growing around the world.

We chose Violence{women's/child abuse} because we think that no one should go through it, even if they are scared they should speak up and not let it happen. I have seen how badly some women have been beaten by their husband and how much they suffer from it, they even take beatings for their children so they don't suffer, but as the beatings kept happening they eventually left and got a better life with their children.

Who is Affected?

People of all ages,cultural groups  and societies are affected by domestic violence, but the main group that is affected is family.. They have grow and see their own family members change into a vicious and violent monsters

What are the issues?

There are domestic violence about social, emotions and economics issues occurring within intimate relationships and in a domestics settings. It s most commonly perpetrated by a male against in female partner, but it also includes against men's, here are the issues about domestics. There were 363,000 females were physically assaulted in just 12 months.
The issues can be that the violence keeps occurring in the family or anywhere which can lead serious damage, and might even lead to a unexpected death. If they keep the violence going heaps of people end up going through depression and sufferings that could never be forgotten.

When did this start and how it was progressed?
Some people use violence as a sign of relief
While others show it as a sign of power over others

It all starts with something triggering them, or even developing stress and it all builds up inside of them, until they eventually lash out

Where is this happening?

Violence occurs all around the world. Everyone has different reactions to abuse, in some people react with being destructive and begin to come to a point where they are physically abusing others .

Why is this happening?

This is happening because some male/female can’t keep control over their anger.

When things get tough they think it will be easier to take it out on people or a family member.

Some even have some family problems which may be unexpected and takes their anger out to anyone

Some use violence because of alcohol, but people say that even though people may be drunk they can still understand and know what they are doing.

Some may be going through some mental health issues which can increase the problem

My group and I plan to try and raise awareness and to help some people who are too scared to speak up. We would get them to give their opinion on what they would want us to do if this type of violence was happening to them.

We would do this by talking to each individual that we know and see who have a tough life, so that we could try and persuade them that by talking about it can help them relieve some pain that has been bottled up inside.

{Impact}

How we can change things for people that suffer from abuse and we might be able to make a difference in other people's lives.

Action plan. {20/11/17}

Our first action plan was to create a survey that would contain some questions about women's abuse and see what answers would we get.
We would also ask them if they would be comfortable to have a interview with us based on women's abuse.
We sent out the survey today {20/11/17} to most of the year nine girls.

We started to get responses but most of the answer were about raising awareness and not being afraid to speak up about it, which is what we plan on achieving.

What would help us a lot if some we got some students to be interviewed to help us with the plans we plan on doing.

If we don't have any students to interview we don't get to finish our first action plan.

We got some responses from the girls in year nine and some were willing to be interviewed and we got some information on what they think about violence.

Action Plan-{4} 22/11/17

For our second action plan, since we got some responses from the year nine students so we decided to interview some.

Some were students who knew something about this type of violence, some have even seen it happen.

The students that we interviewed helped us in our actions plans, they even gave us some advice on the plans that we plan on doing.

We had some students even help us in what they think would improve our action plans

We had some people say that people may not want to listen if we bring someone to speak about this topic so we need to find people that would actually help in raising awareness with our group.

Action plan 3 {27/11/17}

For our third action plan we decided that since there is a mufti day coming up, we asked the teacher who organised it if she could add in the notices if the students could wear something purple to raise more awareness around Women Abuse.

We are also creating posters for the students to understand the meaning of why they are wearing purple.

We also got Jynine the manager of Te Whare Hauora Refuge to speak to us year nines, about the refuge, how they work and how we could help.

Everyone comes in purple and support what were planning on doing.

The students may not want to wear anything purple and we can't do anything about it, or the speaker not coming.

That our group are finishing the posters the speaker created a huge impact on the students and we got some ideas on an action to spread awareness.

Antarctic centre trip

14/11/17

Today all year nine students got the opportunity to visit the antarctic centre. We learned new things about whats happening in Antarctica and how it would affect us if no one is willing to help. My favourite part of the trip was when we looked and C17 plane which was suppose to fly yesterday the 13th but due to bad weather they had to reschedule we got to have a small glimpse of what the plane looks like on the inside and learned about how things are done. We also had the opportunity to meet some of the people from the air force in america which was kind of surprising.
