What is your passion project?
My group's project is Sports tournament (Volleyball).

What have you learned/done so far?
* I have learned ways to improve threats that come our way.

* We presented to teachers what we have done.

How does this help you achieve your passion project?
* We can work ahead without worrying about threats that come our way.
* We know what we need and finishing this keeps us on track.

What is your next step?
* We plan on getting teams sorted if everyone already signed up.
* We will get our equipment sorted.

What evidence do you have that this is something you need to do?

Passion Projects (Community sports)

15/11/18

What have I learned? What am I learning?

* I have learned ways to look at solving the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and threats to improve our SWOT analysis with detailed explanations.

* I am learning to put our ideas into details and co-operate ideas with each individual in the group.

Who is in my group?

Lenora
Ofa
Adi
Annaleise
Janel

What is a SWOT analysis?

* A SWOT analysis is studying and organizing ideas into a different category by strengths in the group weaknesses, opportunities and threats. That helps keep track of what we need to improve.

SWOT Analysis

Strengths:
  • We have people who know and play the chosen sport
  • We are good at working with kids/have coached before.
  • We have experienced professional training

Weakness:
  • We may not be able to work with certain kids because of behavior.
  • Lack of involvement.
  • Lack of interest from the kids.
Opportunities:
  • We can give them sports tips.
  • We can teach them to improve/ to Vs other students to test their skills.
  • No cost available
  • This can also help us improve our own skills
  • when we are questioned about our way of teaching a certain sport.

Threats:
  • Injuries that cannot be prevented/ constant injuries.
  • Social skills(too shy to talk)
  • Fail to prevent injuries that can be prevented.

What came out of the SWOT analysis?

Problem-solving:
Weakness
We can try and make it for fun and enjoyable for young people.
We can make it challenging and competitive.

Threats:
We can put them in small groups and get to know each other first.
We can never prevent injuries but we can help with working in a safer
the environment during the time we have with them, and we can also provide them with the first-aid kit

Skill application:
Strengths:
We will look at the level of skill that the students have and use that to teach them what they
need to improve on.
The skills we learned will be put to good use when we work with the students.T

Opportunities:
We can contact the Hornby primary school for permission to work with the primary students.
We can also work with other groups that have similar ideas to work with.

Music-Performance Arts (year evaluation)

12/11/18

What has been your favorite project this year and why?
I think the most enjoyable project I have done was composing. I think I enjoyed this as we got a choice to choose what kind of music composing we wanted to do and writing a song was something I always wanted to try, which is why I enjoyed it.

What have you found challenging about music this year?
I think what I found challenging is what most people would say when they have that sense of fear in front of others. I found it hard to face an audience while performing which is something that commonly happens to me. Another challenge was preparing to give 100 percent on a practical assessment, which was the aim of every student in the class wanting to give an amazing performance.

What advice would you give to the year 10 students 2019?
I think the advice I would give to the students is don't cower from the audience because if you do then the performance will not have the feeling that it did when you practiced also when you know that a song or project is challenging that is when you know you are trying hard to improve.

Goals for 2019? (musical or non-musical)
Even though I am not doing Music next year, being able to perform and do something I have never done before was my goal and will remain my to try the best and try new things given to me so I can to get through the years I have in school with pride.

Performance Evaluation(Music)

12/11/18

What did you perform?

*I Decided to perform ¨City of stars¨ by Ryan Gosling Ft in La La Land on piano.

With who? On Your Own?

*I performed this song with Jesy as we wanted to do it together.

Why did you choose that song?

*We thought it was an easy song to play but also a good song to perform. The chords were easy/medium hard but we wanted that challenge.

Were you happy with your performance and why?

*I wasn't fully happy with the performance outcome and there are things I could change as on the day my nerves kicked in and I wasn't giving my 100%. I wasn't happy with how we put our parts together and the transaction didn't really go as planned.

If you could perform again, what would you change?

*I would sing so we can create an amazing performance but the negative thoughts stopped me from doing so, but other than that I was really happy with our song choice and how we were both committed to learning our parts.

Maths (Reflection)

24/10/18

Ratios

For the first week of the term, my class was introduced to Ratios as our new topic. We were given
various questions on Ratios to answer as a group and work together to figure out what ways we could use to get the answer.
We created a slideshow as a pair on What is a Ratio? Where do we use Ratios? and How do we use ratios in our everyday life?

What are Ratios?
A ratio compares value. A ratio explains and shows how much one thing is compared to another.

Where do we use it?
Ratios can e used throughout our daily lives, like grocery shopping, cooking, traveling, and more

What questions do you still have about __Ratios__?
How do we make it easier for ourselves to understand Ratios quicker?

What were some of your strengths and weaknesses in this unit? What is your plan to improve in your areas of weakness?

My strengths were I could do the work quickly when I understood it properly.
Weakness is that I had to keep conversing with others too long for me to understand.

Spend less time talking about the topic but look at the examples and see what I can learn from it.

Explain how this app will enhance the user's wellbeing in the short term and long term. You need to discuss all 4 dimensions of wellbeing.

Drug use/Alcohol/smoking

Physical - These types of addictions can have a massive impact on your physical well-being. It is really unhealthy to be ingesting these sort of things. Types of drugs you take can cause your body to react in many ways. Drinking alcohol is a massive effect on your weight and safety. Smoking can cause lung cancer and be very harmful. You are STOP! or make yourself aware of these consequences.

Mental and Emotional-  Again these addictions still have a massive impact on your mental and emotional well-being. They can kill off a lot of your brain cells and affect you in a negative way. Drug use is probably one of the worse things that affect your mental and emotional well-being. How? Well using drugs can enhance your feelings or make you see and believe things you would not usually see. They blindside us to believe things that aren't really true. Alcohol and smoking also play a huge part. They heighten your emotions and can cause you to over-react/stress/cry etc... You need to look after yourself.

Social- All of these addictions affect your social well-being equally. Yes, even smoking. How? Because many people have lost others from lung cancer etc... They may glare at your or move away from you because they are either disgusted or do not approve of your choices. Many people also feel unsafe around people who are intoxicated and also high on drugs. You need to quit!

Spiritual- This app provides addicts with stress-free ways that can help them go through the process of quitting their addiction. People with addictions suffer from being treated differently, which can affect the way they look at themselves and their beliefs, that completely change to what others think of them. Addicts battle with themselves within because they can't help it. Its natural for them, after all, they consume more and they just think its normal to keep doing it.

When magma reaches the earth´s surface it is called lava. It may pour out in gentle streams called lava flows or erupt violently into the air. Rocks ripped loose from the inside of the volcano or torn apart by the gas that may be shot into the air with lava. These rocks blown out of the volcano are called the pyroclastic rocks.

6. Does the sun have an effect on volcanism?

In the climate model, both the reduced output from the sun and the increased amount of volcanic aerosols{fine particles which reflect sunlight away from the earth and which are ejected into the stratosphere by volcanic eruptions} contribute a sizeable amount to the northern hemisphere cooling seen in temperature reconstruction, their relative importance depends upon uncertain estimates of exactly how much each changed relative to a century later.

Creative writing

Creative writing

Noise is heard as soon as the sun rises. People crowded the streets of London to find a spot for stalls to be placed. Fights break out for certain spots. This is the life all British families have to endure if they are poor. The conditions keep getting worse. People die from the lack of poor hygiene. I grew up in a poor household, where things we want aren't given, and the money we gather to provide for our needs are never enough. The apartment my family lived in I wouldn't even call an apartment. The apartment consisted of one roomーfilthy, small, putridーand a bathroom that is unpleasant to the eyes. Kids in London have to work from an early age to help the family. I started working cleaning chimneys at the age of 7, where many accidents happen. Luckily I survived never falling into the chimney while cleaning it. From my time cleaning chimneys. I know about 2-3 kids who have injured themselves really badly, from fire burns and the breaks they get from the fall.

My parents worked day and night, coming home late and each day I have seen them, the bags under their eyes just kept growing darker and darker. Posters are put up every day, but the content included is never needed. Opportunities were poor and jobs paid less. The days our prayers were granted is the day my family will finally move out of this country. When the chance to get out of that hellhole came through, my family took it without a second thought. The day we were leaving came fast and goodbyes were said. The sail to a country we know nothing of started, and that country was New Zealand. The sail took 4-5 months, in the beginning, nothing was bad everything was alright, but 1 month into the trip, getting sick was common. My family stayed in the steerage part of the ship since it was the only thing we could afford. It was either steerage or don't board at all. Mum was pregnant on the way, things were getting harder. We got no fresh water or meat, we were fed with salty meat and had salty water to drink. Illnesses spread quickly mum caught diphtheria, which is constantly passed from one person to another. What made her condition worse was the lack of proper hygiene we were given in steerage. Along the sail Storms break through and floods on the ship were common especially where my family stayed. As the boat swayed side to side the water in the room began to smash against the wall nearly drenching the beds that we lie on.

Days on the sail soon came to an end without any complications, except for some children who suffered severe diseases and passed during the trip. I don't know the pain that the parents might have been through, but I know it was hard. New Zealand was right before our eyes the hardships in London and everything my family has been through on that ship all seemed worth it. The green land was seen and the happiness exploded on my parents face as tears began to fall. We finally made it I thought to myself, this is a new life and a new beginning.

The general said that America would find themselves in the longest, costliest and bloodiest war in history. Because of the imbalance within the Region.

3) Why is Australia being invaded?

Because of the imbalances within the region, while other countries live in slums Australia has all the goods they need. Resources

like fire burning the green fields
*Boom Boom* the sound of an explosion
Corrie in tears, that we can't hear.
Shots are near, but we revere
The joy, we cheer for what Ellie will do here.
Windows smash, and bullets fly
Cars crash but wounds are seen
One shot *smash*
two shots *silence*

Tomorrow, When The War Began (chapter 12)

21/08/18

1) “They say teenagers can sleep all day”. Is this true? Do you agree? Does Ellie still see herself as a typical teenager?

* Yes, it is. Yes because that is the lazy kind of lifestyle she can relate to.

2) Ellie’s dream at the beginning of the chapter is rather nonsensical, as dreams are wont to be. Is there any meaning to it? Try and explain what Ellie’s subconscious could be thinking about: why is her dad cooking for the whole town? Why did Father Cronin ignore Ellie’s greeting? Why was Corrie 8 years old again? Why were they sailing off on a boat? Why was Lee undressing?

Her dad cooking for the village may represent that her dad is taking care of the people that may be locked up with him.
Father Cronin ignored her because she did something sinful.
They sailed off on the boat away from all that's happening

*Maybe Ellie is thinking about the times she was young and only understood so little. Maybe she mistook her village with family and Father Cronin was just her imagination. She is remembering when she was able to do things without worry. Her dream was a build up for her to know her feelings for Lee which is why he was in her dream undressed.

3) Why is it so terrible that Chris falls asleep while on sentry duty? How does Ellie react? Why do you think she reacts this way? How does she feel about her reaction later?

* They don't know when someone comes to the show like one of the soldiers, then they will be in trouble. She reacted by screaming and getting angry at Chris. She reacted this way because she worries about her friends and everyone there. She felt bad since she said a lot of bad things to him which can make him feel bad.

4) Back in Hell, Ellie’s dreams are far more ominous. Explain why Ellie is dreaming of her fears.

*Since she actually felt peace at heart there was still something that could happen if they don't do anything about the soldiers and the invaders.

Composition Techniques

22/08/18

1) What you have learnt about composing so far. Film, advertisement, Christmas songs and etc.

* I have learnt that composing is not all about one thing, you can change the way you compose a song by changing the chords you use. Especially with music changing the chords can change the way people feel about the song. Film music was great since we got to guess what kind of emotion the group or person played, we could see how we can tell the difference between the different emotions played.

2) What is your favourite technique that you have tried and why.

* I loved trying all of the tasks but I enjoyed Christmas song since we got to write our own lyrics and create a small piece which was good and I enjoyed doing so.

3) Which type of composition do you want to try for your assesmemt and why?

* I want to try writing a song because I want to try something I have never done before and think I can do.

Tomorrow, When The War Began (Chapter 11)

17/08/18

1) How does Ellie feel as she is waiting in the truck at the Council Depot? Where do her emotions come from?

* She felt cold, fear and excited as she kept shivering. But the greatest emotion she felt was fear and her fear came from love, love for her friends that she didn't want to let down.

2)Why are the girls smiling when in danger? Is this a logical response?

* They are laughing and smiling in excitement as to what is happening like the truck being used to run over the soldiers small cars. To also cope with the situation.

*Yes

3) What does wearing a helmet and buckling up mean to the girls?

* They would at least be safe when the truck is randomly turning, and also the helmets could at protect them from dying. The difference between brain damage and death.

4) What does Chris’s story say about the town?

* From Chris's point of view as he watched the soldiers from afar before he even thought about an invasion he just thought everyone went to the Show, but he started noticing that car crashes weren't only accidents there were also bullet wounds and then he started to notice how houses looked like a mess and then he started to believe that the town is being invaded. The showground wasn't the only place that was invaded the enemy soldiers invaded the whole town.

5) What impact does the BMW have on the story? Does Chris seem lonely? Explain your answer?

*The car helps them escape and the BMW helped them escape.
* They got rid of the BMW by pushing it down the dam, which is how they found Chris.
*That if they hadn't gotten rid of the BMW the soldiers could find the connections between them and Chris's family, and maybe something bad would happen to Chris's parents.
*Yes, because he didn't have anyone to talk to while he was alone at his house. All he could do is watch and not do anything and had nothing to do.

6) What is Homer’s explanation for the need to swap cars at Chris Lang’s place? What does this show about the way he is thinking?

* If they leave the shot up BMW at Ellie's house and a patrol arrives something might happen to Ellie's parents. That he cares for others and that no one should have to suffer losing a parent. He is also putting himself in the soldier's shoes to avoid any problems. Strategically

7) What are your thoughts on the story so far...

* I think that the action parts makes me feel more excited about the book and how they enjoy the danger they face with the cars, but so far the book is interesting.

English CARR Licences

16.08.18

What are we doing with CARR Licences?
To help us students stay on task at all times since we are here to learn for our own future not to just mess around doing nothing. This also gives us the push to want to achieve more and to aim higher.

Why are we doing this?
I think as a student, the teachers gave us this opportunity so we can all work well, and will help us be on task all the time, and for us to achieve all these privileges we need to show that we would be trusted to be able to do things no other students are able to do. Giving us the opportunity to strive for something we never thought we could do.

Where, in the 4 sections, do you place yourself?
I think I would be in Full Licence, I work well within the class including with others. I focus really quickly and can stay on task throughout the period. I sometimes am able to help those in need of help in tasks when needed.

What learning improvements would you aim for?
I would aim to make more right choices as to whom I work with and always be on task. I would also respect any decision the teachers make whether good or bad.

* Film music is music used in films to accompany the action and create atmosphere.

What have you learned about Film music?
